Position: Parish Nursery Worker

Location: Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church

Reports to: Family Life Coordinator

Status: Contractor, no benefits

Pay Rate: $18.00 per hour


Job Description:

Our Lady of Fatima is seeking a safe, responsible, and nurturing individual to provide care to our youngest parishioners ages 6 months to 5 years while they are in the parish nursery during studies, special events, and parish life offerings.


Key Responsibilities:

 
          Provide attentive care and supervision for children in the nursery

  •       Ensure a safe, healthy, and nurturing environment at all times
  •       Arrive on time and remain until the last child is picked up and the nursery is cleaned
  •       Manage the check-in/check-out process for children
  •       Communicate warmly and effectively with parents, following any specific instructions they give for their children
  •       Engage children with age-appropriate activities, including play, games, stories, and crafts
  •       Use positive redirection to guide children’s behavior when needed
  •       Work cooperatively with fellow nursery staff
  •       Practice proper hygiene, including frequent handwashing
  •       Keep the nursery tidy, organized, and inviting
  •       Sanitize toys, remove trash, and complete cleaning tasks before leaving
  •       Report any concerns and communicate supply needs to the Family Life Coordinator


Job Requirements:


  •    Ability to lift infants and toddlers up to 50 pounds
  •   Predictable, punctual on-site attendance
  •    Follow all Diocese, parish, and parish nursery policies
  •   Willingness to complete any additional Diocese or Catholic Mutual requirements, such as a drug screening or fingerprinting (costs covered by the Diocese)


Basic Qualifications (required):


  •  Experience working with children
  • Be 21 years of age
  • Pass a background check and CMG Safe Environment requirements
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States


Preferred Qualifications (preferred):


  • Experience working in a childcare setting
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work evening and weekend shifts, sometimes during parish events


Childcare staff shifts- Staff are not required to work each shift.

They need to be able to work at least 2 shifts regularly.


Sundays: 9:30 AM - 11:30 AM

Tuesdays: 8:45 AM - 11:30 AM

Wednesdays: 5:45 PM - 8:15 PM

Thursdays: 5:45 PM - 8:15 PM
