Giving Tuesday 2025 – Investing in Parish Safety & Hospitality

This Tuesday is Giving Tuesday nationwide—a day to give back to the organizations and ministries we value. Our parish is once again participating in the #iGiveCatholic Giving Tuesday campaign.

In past years, your generosity on this day has helped us:

  • Launch our growing nursery program
  • Purchase Bibles for our children and youth
  • Cover unexpected building repairs
  • Upgrade our social hall audio and video systems

We are deeply grateful. Each of these projects has strengthened our mission to be a place where we learn, pray, and serve together.

This Year’s Project: A Safer, More Welcoming Campus

As our community continues to grow, so does our responsibility to provide a welcoming and safe environment for all who come to Our Lady of Fatima—whether for mass, faith formation, community events, or quiet personal prayer.

This year, our Giving Tuesday project focuses on parish safety. We hope to raise funds to:

  • Improve exterior lighting
  • Provide first aid and CPR training for volunteers
  • Upgrade security systems and door access
  • Support resources and equipment for our new Parish Safety Team

1. Improved Campus Lighting

People come to our campus to pray and participate in ministry at many hours of the day and evening. With the increase in activity across our buildings and parking lots, we have recognized the need to upgrade our parking lot and building lighting.

Improved lighting will:

  • Make sidewalks, entrances, and gathering spaces easier to see
  • Help parishioners, especially youth and families arriving for evening programs, feel safer walking into our buildings
  • Enhance overall visibility for staff and Safety Team members as they serve our community

2. First Aid & CPR Training

Our new Parish Safety Team, along with key ministry leaders and staff, will receive first aid and CPR training. Our goal is to expand this training across the parish so that more volunteers are ready to respond calmly and effectively in an emergency.

Your support will help cover the cost of:

  • Training sessions and certification
  • Basic first aid supplies and updated kits for key locations on campus

3. Security & Door Access Upgrades

Our current door access system remains secure, but it was installed over 10 years ago. In that time, our parish has grown significantly, and the way we use our buildings has expanded.

We hope to upgrade our security and door access systems so that we can:

  • Better manage access to different spaces at different times of day
  • Integrate improved technology for monitoring and alerts
  • Implement recommendations from our recent parish safety assessment, including upgraded cameras and emergency communication systems

These improvements will require a significant investment in both equipment and installation—but they are an important step in caring for everyone who comes to our campus.

4. Parish Safety Team Resources

Our Parish Safety Team will be most effective when they are visible, equipped, and well-supported.

Giving Tuesday donations will also help us provide:

  • Clearly marked vests or apparel for Safety Team members
  • Communication tools and basic equipment to assist during masses and events
  • Materials to help families, children, and youth understand safety procedures
  • Enhanced volunteer identification, including updated name tags, especially for those working with children and youth
