The Lord's Supper

We Adore you, O Christ, and we Bless You.

Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the World.

While they were eating, Jesus took bread, said the blessing, broke it, and giving it to his disciples said, "Take and eat, this is my body."   Then he took a cup, gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, "Drink from it all of you, for this is my blood of the covenant, which will be shed on behalf of many for the forgiveness of sins." Matthew 26:26-28
Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name; Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen

Hail Mary full of grace, the Lord is with thee.   Blessed are thou amongst women and blessed is the fruit of thy womb, Jesus.   Holy Mary Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of death, Amen

Glory Be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.  As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end,   Amen

"Take this cup away from me.  But let it be as you would have it, not as I.” Then he rose from prayer and came to his disciples, only to find them asleep, exhausted with grief… While he was still speaking a crowd came, led by the man name Judas, one of the twelve.  He approached Jesus to embrace him.  Jesus said to him, “Judas, would you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?”  Luke 22:39; 42, 45; 47-48

Those who had apprehended Jesus led him off to Caiaphas the high priest, where the scribes and elders were convened.  Peter kept following him at a distance as far as the high priest’s residence… The chief priest, with the whole Sanhedrin, were busy trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus so that they might put him to death.  They discovered none.

Once they had brought him before their council, they said, “Tell us, are you the Messiah”” He replied, “If I tell you, you will not believe me…?  “So you are the Son of God?” the asked in chorus.  He answered, “if is you who say I am.”  They said, “What need have we of witnesses? We have heard it from his own mouth.   Luke 22:54; 66-67; 70-71

One of the guards who were standing nearby gave Jesus a sharp blow on the face.  “Is that the way to answer the high priest?” he said.  John 18:22

Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.  Amen

There was in him no stately bearing to make us look at him, the prophet Isaiah wrote, nor appearance that would attract us to him.  He was spurned and avoided by men, a man of suffering, accustomed to infirmity, one of those from whom men hide their face, spurned, and we held him in so esteem.  Isaiah 53:2,3

A great crowd of people followed him, including women who beat their breasts and lamented over him. Jesus turned to them and said: Daughters of Jerusalem, do not weep for me.  Weep for yourselves and for your children.”  Luke 23:27-28

Amen

I solemnly assure you, unless the grain of wheat falls to the earth and dies, it remains just a grain of wheat.  But if it dies, it produces much fruit… My soul is troubled now, yet what should I say – Father, save me from this hour?  But it was for this that I came to this hour.  John 12:24,27

Amen

Two others who were criminals were led along with him to be crucified.  When they came to the Skull Place, as it was called, they crucified him there and the criminals as well, one on his right and the other on his left.  Luke 23: 32-33

One of the criminals hanging in crucifixion blasphemed him: “Aren’t you the Messiah? Then save yourself and us. But the other one rebuked him:   “Have you no fear of God, seeing you are under the same sentence?  We deserve it after all.  We are only paying the price for what we’ve done, but this man has done nothing wrong.”  He then said, “Jesus, remember me when you enter upon your reign.”  And Jesus replied, “I assure you: this day you will be with me in paradise.”  Luke 23:39-43

Amen

Jesus Dies

We Adore you, O Christ, and we Bless You.

Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the World.

From noon onward there was darkness over the whole land until mid-afternoon.  Jesus said, “Father, forgive them; they do not know wat they are doing.”   Then toward mid-afternoon Jesus cried out in a loud tone:  “My God, my God, why have you forsaken me?   He said, “Now it is finished.”  Then he bowed his head and delivered over his spirit.    Suddenly the curtain in the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom.  The earth quaked, boulders split, tombs opened… The centurion and his men who were keeping watch over Jesus were terror-stricken at seeing the earthquake and all that was happening, and said, “Clearly, this was the Son of God!”  .  One of the soldiers thrust a lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out. Matthew 27:45, Matthew 27:52-54, Luke 23:34, John 19:34

Amen

Jesus is Buried

We Adore you, O Christ, and we Bless You.

Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the World.

As it grew dark (it was Preparation Day, that is, the eve of the Sabbath), Joseph from Arimathea arrived – a distinguished members of the Sanhedrin. He was bold enough to seek an audience with Pilate and urgently requested the body of Jesus... Learning from the centurion that Jesus was dead, Pilate released the corpse to Joseph.  Then, having brought a linen shroud, Joseph took him down, wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a tomb that had been cut out of rock.  Finally he rolled a stone across the entrance of the tomb. Mark 15: 42-46

Amen

The Fourteenth Station

Christ Rises

We Adore you, O Christ, and we Bless You.

Because by your holy cross you have redeemed the World.

On the first day of the week, at dawn, the women came to the tomb bringing the spices they had prepared.  They found the stone rolled back from the tomb, but when they entered the tomb, they did not find the body of the Lord Jesus.  While they were still at a loss over what to think of this, two men in dazzling garments stood beside them.  Terrified, the women bowed to the ground.  The men said to them. Why do you search for the Living One among the dead?  He is not here; he has been raised up… On their return form the tomb, they told all these things to the Eleven and the others.  Luke 24:1-6, 9

Peter and the other disciple started out on their way toward the tomb.  They were running side by side, but then the other disciple outran Peter and reached the tomb first.   He did not enter but bent down to peer in, and saw the wrappings lying on the ground.  Presently, Simon Peter came along behind him and entered the tomb.  He observed the wrappings on the ground… Then the disciple who had arrived first at the tomb went in.  He saw and believed.  John 20:1-8

Amen

Closing Prayers

Let Us Pray

God, Who by the Precious Blood of thy only-begotten Son didst sanctify the Standard of the Cross, grant, we beseech Thee, that we who rejoice in the glory of the same Holy Cross may at all times and places rejoice in Thy protection, through the same Christ, our Lord.

CLOSING PRAYER TO JESUS CHRIST CRUCIFIED

Behold, O kind and most sweet Jesus, I cast myself on my knees in Thy sight, and with the most fervent desire of my soul, I pray and beg Thee to impress upon my heart lively sentiments of faith, hope, and charity, with true repentance for my sins, and a firm desire of amendment, while with deep affection and grief of soul I contemplate Thy five most precious Wounds, having before my eyes that which David spoke in prophecy: "They pierced My hands and My feet; they have numbered all My bones." God has loved us from all eternity. So He says: "Remember I first loved you. You had not come to be, nor did the world yet exist, but I loved you already. From all eternity I have loved you."

May the Souls of the Faithful departed through the Mercy of God Rest in Peace, Amen
